Therapeutic Coaching

Structure meets substance: the best of both worlds

Life doesn't fit neatly into boxes. Personal, professional, past and present are all intertwined - constantly informing, influencing and interacting with each other.

My practice reflects and honours this through a weaving-together of transformational coaching and creative therapy. Drawing from decades of lived experience and my dual-training as a professional coach and clinical creative therapist, my practice combines the frameworks and accountability of coaching with the support and depth of therapy, so that you can find clarity, restore balance and move forward.

Coaching Done Differently

A lot of my clients are creative folks - designers, artists, makers, or people who work in product and technology, and for a lot of us, our brains work a little differently. Especially for those of us who are neurodivergent. This means that a lot of the tools and approaches used by other coaches aren't always helpful for us, and sometimes the additional pressure and expectation can actually make things worse.

I do things differently. I have been living with, supporting and coaching neurodivergent folks (with or without a formal diagnosis) for years, and I fully understand the ongoing daily struggles and challenges that we face finding our way in a neurotypical world. My practice and methods are down-to-earth, client-led, inclusive and neuro-affirming. I provide accountability without judgement, Focus without pressure, and my approach is built on developing a strong coaching relationship of mutual respect and understanding.

How can coaching help me?

Therapeutic coaching is a co-active process, with shared responsibility, and so ultimately the results you get out reflect the effort and energy that you put in, but for those willing to put in the hard work, the results can be profound:

  • Higher levels of self awareness and greater clarity around your own strengths, values and beliefs.
  • A feeling of balance and alignment, with all the different areas of your life working together in sync
  • Feeling calmer and more accepting, observing things as they are and letting go of things that don't matter
  • A stronger sense of belonging and deeper connection to the people you care about.
  • Clear, well defined boundaries and the ability to put yourself and your own needs first.
  • The confidence to speak up and trust your gut, make those tough decisions and believe in yourself
  • Developing greater levels of empathy and trust, allowing your to work more cohesively & collaboratively with others
  • Recognising your own strengths & and talents, developing new ones and celebrating your successes
  • A sense of purpose and direction; being clearer on where you want to go and how you might be able to get there
  • Increased resiliience and the courage to stand up for yourself and the things that are important to you

"Having Lee as a coach has been a transformative experience. He has an uncanny knack for asking the right questions at the right time. Each session, Lee managed to challenge my thinking, pushing me to delve deeper into my thoughts and feelings. What truly sets Lee apart is his exceptional ability to listen. He doesn't just hear my words; he understands the emotions and experiences behind them. This deep level of empathy and understanding has helped me uncover insights about myself that I never realised before. If you're looking for a coach who will genuinely understand you and help you grow in ways you never imagined, I highly recommend Lee."

Reaching out or asking for help can often feel impossible, and so I've tried to make it super simple to get started.

The easiest way to get in touch is to send me a message. Or, if you're feeling brave and ready to get going, you can go ahead and book a free, 30 minute intro session right now. During those 30 minutes, we can talk through what is going on for you, what you'd like from our sessions, and we can see if we might be a good fit. No obligation, no pressure, and no charge.

Or, if you'd prefer, you can drop me an email at lee@leeyoung.co.nz and i'll get back to you as soon as I can.
